1.Rules

1.1The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2All competitors will be required to wear a properly fastened USCG- approved personal flotation device at all times. Each competitor shall have a whistle attached to their PFD at all times while on the water.

 

  1. Eligibility

2.1Boats of the following classes are eligible to enter, provided there are at least three boats from that class who race.

  • Optimist (championship fleet)
  • Sunfish

2.2All competitors (skippers and crew) shall not have reached their 19th birthday during calendar year 2017.

2.3All boats must meet all class safety and equipment rules.

 

  1. Registration:

Registration will be Sunday morning

 

 

  1. Sailing Instructions:  Sailing Instructions will be posted on the official Notice Board. Copies will not be supplied.

 

  1. Coaches. Clubs with more than 4 boats in a fleet are required to bring a coach and coach boat for that fleet.  Coaches must register by Monday morning with the registration desk.

 

  1. Schedule
    Sunday, October 8:

1100:               Report time. Racing will happen afterwards at the discretion of

the race committee.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

 

1      RULES:

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2 RRS 60.1(a) is changed to prohibit a boat from protesting another boat for an alleged breach of any class rule other than class equipment measurement rules.

1.3 RRS 64.1 is changed to allow penalties imposed by the Protest Committee, for hearings held under RRS 60.3, as changed, which may range from a reprimand to a dismissal from the regatta.

2      NOTICES TO COMPETITORS:

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board

3      SCHEDULE:  Sunday, October 8:

1100:                Report time. Racing will happen afterwards at the discretion of the race committee.

 Awards and BBQ to follow racing

4      RACING AREA: The racing area will be Grand Cove

5      MARKS: All marks will be Orange and Yellow balls.

6      COURSES: Courses will be hailed from the RC boat prior to the race.  It is the responsibility of each competitor to understand what course is to be sailed.

 

7      STARTING AND FINISHING LINES

7.1 The starting & Finish line will be between a yellow flag on the RC boat and mark

7.2 RRS Appendix U will be used

8      TIME LIMITs

8.1 The time limit for each race will be 20 minutes for the first boat to finish.

8.2 The Race Committee has the option to score a boat in her position if continuing to race will delay the start of the next race.

9      PROTESTS: A boat intending to protest about an incident that occurs in the racing area shall notify the race committee-finish boat of her intention, including the sail number(s) of the boat(s) being protested.  This changes RRS 61.1a.

10   SCORING & TROPHIES

10.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A of the racing rules will apply. 

10.2 One race constitutes a series.

10.3 There are NO throw-out races.
